Company: Fresenius

Business: A German health care holding and investment company: They own fully or parts of: Fresenius Medical Care that work with dialysis, Fresenius Kabi treatment of chronically ill patients, Fresenius Helios having 109 hospitals and clinics (in Germany mainly) for acute treatment of patients, Fresenius Vamed helps with projects and management business of health care facilities and finally  Fresenius Netcare the IT provider for the group.

Active: Fresenius with daughter companies are active in over 100 countries world wide.

P/E: 19.6

Summary of May 2014

Whaaam, paoooow, baaaam! Oh, my gosh did I get smacked in the face by DAX! I am definitely getting crushed and it is interesting to observe. The month has been different. Me and my girlfriend decided to move in together and after looking for an apartment in the overcrowded Berlin we made the decision that I move in to her. So we are now living on 43 m2 (including the small balcony) and the rent for me will be around 200 euro per month so I managed to cut my rent by more than the half.

Analysis of Fresenius Medical Care (FMC) 2014

Company: Fresenius Medical Care (FMC)

Business: A German medicinal products and service company that are mainly active within the dialysis field. The equipment is sold to hospitals, clinics as well as private people so that they can perform the dialysis at home on their own. The maintenance of the equipment and the exchange of filters is a growing market year by year.

Active: World wide with sale of equipment and with their dialysis clinics (3,200 in total with no expansion since last year!) they are present in 40 countries.

P/E: 13.5

Berkshire Hathaway: Warren Buffett Q1 2014

It seems to have been at least in the US (which is all that is reported in the SEC) a slow quarter for Berkshire Hathaway. I guess Warren was preparing for his annual meeting and that took all the energy out of him.
