British Petroleum (BP)

BP a UK oil and energy company

The fifth stock that I bought was British Petroleum. The stock had significantly decreased due to the accident, which was due to safety negligence, on Deepwater Horizon and therefore a lot of investors had decided to step out of the stock. In every sense the stock was therefore cheap and I expect that BP will become a stronger company that will look more closely on safety issues in future if not then I bought a very bad company indeed. It should also be added that I had missed one rule from Benjamin Graham which I have now re-discovered while reading the book for the second time. Never ever buy shares in a company where the litigation is still on going!

Asian Bamboo

Asian Bamboo a chinese forrest company

The fourth company that I acquired was Asian Bamboo. Especially in North America there has been some disappointments for investors when stepping into Chinese companies that are traded or even registered on other markets. In this specific case it was Sino-Forest Corporation that was involved in a multi-billion fraud. What the Chinese companies almost always does is to have one company in the country of the market where they are registered.

The Berlin Bubble

porperty, berlin, price increase, bubble

When I arrived to Berlin, which is over five years ago now, I was seriously thinking about buying an apartment even though I did not personally have the financial means for doing so, but maybe some nice family member could have borrowed me some money.
Either way in the area where I currently live I would then have been able to buy a 50 m2 apartment for around 50.000 €.

The investment advice as given by Fisher

Fisher was a very successful American investor. I would highly advice that you take a look at my book list and read the book to understand the points. I like everything Fisher is saying and doing and I understand that he was highly successful I also realise that I have no chance of following up what he did and I therefore need to go a different approach.

Deutsche Bank

A German bank of systemic importance

By the look of it a lot of people woke up this morning and said: Hey, the stocks became a bit too cheap in the end of last week so now I have to buy some before it is too late. The focus on buy price is of course important but less and less important the longer you expect to be a shareholder in the company. Like Fisher said: Don´t care about eights and quarters. I think many people are missing a truly great deal due to that they place a too low buy price. The thing is however that if they have not realised that then they will on the other hand also not keep the stock long enough to see the gain so it ends up being the same mediocre result anyway.
