Pershing Square: William Ackman Q2 2016

Logo, Pershing Square

The activity was very low in Pershing Square during Q2 2016.

For the previous report please visit Pershing Square: William Ackman Q4 2015.

Conclusion: I would not be chocked if William is spending a lot of his time and energy on trying to save Valeant and for that reason probably many other things are being cast aside which also makes sense because it concerns so much money and so much honour for Mr. Ackman.

Pershing Square: William Ackman Q1 2016

Pershing Square, William Ackman, logo

Enhanced activity by William during this last quarter! One of his investments, Valeant, have received a lot of bad publicity as well as being trashed by the Berkshire boys for conducting and using a business plan without any sense of moral. Are the old boys correct? I tend to think so.

One new holding arrived this time:

Nomad - a frozen food company that are currently head quartered on the British Virgin Islands and we all know why a company is sitting there...

For the previous report please visit Pershing Square: William Ackman Q4 2015.

Pershing Square, William Ackman, Q1, 2016

Conclusion: William kept adding into Valeant with their highly questionable business model as well as did he enter into a new holding, Nomad, sitting on the British Virgin Islands... I would not follow in his footsteps.

Pershing Square: William Ackman Q4 2015

Pershing Square, a hedge fund run by William Ackman

Ooh, William had another laid back quarter, at least in terms of activities that has to be registered with the SEC. So he did more or less nothing and still he was loosing a big chunk of money on one of his holdings. Guess which one?

For the previous report please visit Pershing Square: William Ackman Q3 2015.

Pershing Square, Q4, 2015, William Ackman

Conclusion: Well let us start off with answering the question above - Valeant is the company causing all the grief. Not only to the investors but also to the American population that have been forced to pay outrageous bills for medication that costs almost nothing to produce. Valeant is a vulture company whose existent should be questioned. In some cases governments should start to consider having their own generics company to provide their population with cheap medication as being part of the crucial infrastructure of the nation.

Pershing Square: William Ackman Q3 2015

Pershing Square, a hedge fund run by William Ackman

The excitement from William got slightly more intensified since he actually stepped into a new company last quarter according to SEC. Please keep in mind that only US holdings must be filed.

For the previous report please visit Pershing Square: William Ackman Q2 2015.

New holdings:

Mondelez - An American food and snack producer.

Conclusion: Since Mr. Ackman very rarely are silent when he step into companies it was already known since before that Mondelez was the new thorn in his side... or maybe other way round... I took a look at Mondelez. They have excellent brands. Many that I myself love to eat but it also seems to be run by fools having today large intangible assets and goodwill in their balance sheet. So maybe Ackman will manage to change something. On the other hand he has not been very successful as of late.

Pershing Square: William Ackman Q2 2015

Pershing Square run by William Ackman

This used to be the final investor that I followed but I have decided to add one more to the group that I follow. William have not had an exciting quarter based on the movements by him.

For the previous report please visit Pershing Square: William Ackman Q1 2015.

There were no new investment made in the US.

Holdings, Pershing Square, Q2, 2015

Conclusion: The only thing happening in the US was that William sold off Actavis that was a new investment for Q1 2015 so a very short holding time on that one.

Pershing Square: William Ackman Q1 2015

Pershing Square, a hedge fund run by William Ackman

The final investor that I follow is William and here we will take a look at the changes he did. Little happened but still a bit of excitement.

For the previous report please visit Pershing Square: William Ackman Q4 2014.

The new investments were:

Actavis - a pharmaceutical company working with specialty products as well as generics. Actually Actavis bought Allergan that William had shares in so this is the reason for why he is now in here instead and Allergan is out.

Valeant Pharmaceuticals - Seems to be yet another mainly generics company.

Conclusion: The activity from William if one account for the take-over very low. Sold no companies or shares and only made a new investment in the form of Valeant Pharma which did not make me very excited.

Pershing Square: William Ackman Q4 2014

Pershing Square, William Ackman, Q4, 2014

The excitement is massive when it comes to the reports from William! The guy is really focused and very little is going on in terms of changes of companies in his stock portfolio. So this time there were neither any new companies joining nor did any company get kicked out.

For the previous report please click on Pershing Square: William Ackman Q3 2014.

Pershing Square, William Ackman, holdings, Q4, 2014

Conclusion: He kept adding to the vet company (Zoetis) and the holding starts to be pretty large! The other biggest change is thet Burger King joined with Tim Hortons and then also changed the name to Restaurant Brands International (RBI). There are currently also the 3G capital involved with a massive amount of shares (owns around 70% of the shares) as well as the old geezer Warren Buffett that joined his Brazilian buddy last quarter.

Pershing Square: William Ackman Q3 2014

Pershing Square, William Ackman, logo, 2014

Very low activity from William Ackman and Pershing Square this quarter. He did however bring in a new company in his stock portfolio which is interesting...

The new company is:

Zoetis - discovers, develops, manufactures and commercializes a diverse portfolio of animal health medicines and vaccines designed to meet the real-world needs of veterinarians and the livestock farmers and companion animal owners they support. I took a look at them and saw a P/E of over 40 which directly made me flinch.

Conclusion: The new vet and livestock medication company looks far to expensive for me and the addition to the Canadian Pac Ry Ltd was minimal to say the least. So based on this information I will neither sell or buy something.

This quarter William relaxed a little and he was good at kicking out investments but did not bring any new investment back in.

For the previous report please click on Pershing Square: William Ackman Q1 2014.

William Ackman, Pershing Square, Q2, 2014, holdings, stocks

Conclusion: William kicked out three investments of which two were new investments last quarter which means it is not easy to keep up with him.

Pershing Square run by William Ackman

Major activity also from William! I have not seen him that active before so this is very interesting. The previous report concerning Pershing Square - William Ackman Q4 2013 and what they bought and sold.

The new companies that he brought it were:

Allergan Inc - a healthcare company dealing with medical devices as well as over the counter products.

Apartment Invt & Mgmt Co (AIMCO) - they are renting out apartments and houses in several US states.

Pershing Square: William Ackman Q4 2013

Pershing Square run by William Ackman
This brief report concerns the dealing of William Ackman with Pershing Square and I must say that his activity was very low in the last quarter.

Companies bought and sold

Conclusion: The question is that is William waiting for? The fall of Herbalife? Is he forced to sell shares and make no new investments due to his losses from shorting Herbalife? Either way he made no new additions to the portfolio, he bought no new shares and only sold off some shares in three of his companies.

For the previous report on Willams dealings please look here.

Pershing Square: William Ackman Q3 2013

Pershing Square run by William Ackman

This is the last of the four American investors that I follow and it is William Ackman with Pershing Square Capital Management L.P. Usually they have very few companies and are making few trades. This quarter was no different and no new American companies entered into the portfolio, two were kicked out and three saw decreased positions. Only one stock had an increased position as can be seen in the list below:

Q3, 2013, Pershing Square, William Ackmann

Conclusion: By the look of things they are building up cash. Interesting is also that they have a pretty large call option on Proctor & Gamble. So they decreased their shares in P&G and then placed a large call option. It is an investment field that am currently not working with and I do not know if I ever will.

Pershing Square: William Ackman Q2 2013

Pershing Square the fund run by William Ackerman

When we take a look at the SEC filing from William Ackman and Pershing Square Capital Management LP we see that they have done some minor changes in the stock portfolio.

One stock is out and that is Mondelez Intl so just like Warren Buffett they decided to kick it out only difference is that Warren did not manage to sell all his shares.

The new stock is:

Pershing Square: William Ackman Q1 2013

A hedge fund run by William Ackman
This hedge fund, Pershing Square Capital Management LP, is being run by William "Bill" Ackman and lately his name has been in the air due to the battle with Carl Icahn concerning Herbalife. Strangely enough I saw no filing of Herbalife which I find a bit odd...

I recently saw in investment video by him were he very shortly explained how to set up a lemonade stand, to run it and how to grow it. Nothing new there but I liked that he said... "the ideal thing is to buy a stock and hold it forever". Due to that sentence I then decided to check out his hedge fund to see if they were working according to that concept or not.
