My excel sheet project

As I have mentioned I have been actively working on a little project where it will hopefully become easier for me to evaluate the companies according to my contrarian approach and also that I can very easily come back to them and add some more information when I want to look more closely at them again. Since I do not have sufficient data about a long list of companies I am today not evaluating the companies according to all the key figures that I have put in this excel sheet and to be honest I do not know if one have to do that either. Some key figures I just find uninteresting and them I have not added. This explanation can be found continuously here.

Building up cash or not

Lately I have been thinking about if I should build up some cash instead of directly investing all of it. The downside with cash is of course that I´m getting little interest out of it and that I might be missing the increase in the stock market and standing with that money on the side line.

Summary March 2013

End of February and the entire March was a period when I was seriously being beaten by DAX.

From the start of this adventure DAX has beaten me by being 14.6% plus against my 8.7% minus. So I´m pushed down in the mud!

BP dividend

BP is one of those companies paying dividends four times per year. Today I received the letter informing me that 24.73 EUR had been added to my account. This will of course be brought into the dividend page!

I´m back home in Berlin now after Easter and will bring up some observations from my visit to the North. I also managed to almost finish the new analysis sheet and I will during this week start to publish what I have started to collect there.

Death and Taxes

There is the old saying that no one can avoid "Death and Taxes". In the last decade/s that statement seems to have been half wrong. The death part still goes but to avoid taxes has become far to easy.
Part of the problem is that the companies are active world wide and the tax rules and regulations are highly regional with too many exception rules leading to that too many corporations are easily able to avoid paying taxes.
