Summary of October 2020 |
Received dividends from three companies but overall it will me a meek year. I hope that 2021 will become a much better year in terms of dividends. I've heard reported from various sources that yes, many companies were not making any sales during the lockdown but once out of lockdown the sales increased dramatically any many of them ended up with similar sales as last year for the nine months period. Many companies have however been severely hit by it and new companies have bloomed.
Cash was added to the account and a company was brought which I will report on shortly. In the end I decided to start up a broker account in the UK again due to the upcoming changes and because I found a no fee ISA stock account with additionally low commission fees when buying stocks. Here in the UK the ISA accounts are tax free and one can add in a maximum of £20k per year into them. I mainly plan to go for high dividend paying stocks.
My company had a strategy meeting with our board some weeks ago. It was very exciting and the future start to look a bit better. Sitting in these meetings I realised just how important the board is for a company I have a feeling that the board can often be overlooked and one is looking at CEO and the key players in the organisation but the network, knowledge and skills of the board members are highly crucial.
UK is once again in lockdown. It has very little impact on me and my life here and I think that Brexit will have a much bigger impact.
Oh, I was contacted by HR in the middle of October with them informing me that they had messed up and forgotten to increase my salary from summer when I stepped into my new role. I just laughed about it because I hadn't even realised their mistake.
For the previous summary please visit Summary of August 2020 and here you can see my stock portfolio as it is.
The total invested value is now up at: 169,160 €. Monthly investment was made in the Mixed ETF and only in that.
The value of the portfolio is today: 205,158 € and I have 3,233 € in cash on my broker account. I have realised gains of 3,103 € and unrealised of 35,999 € (17.6%) which is, as always, not good enough.
DAX is now down at 12,480 points which means that it has decreased by -2.2% since the previous summary and my own portfolio has happily increased by 0.7%.
Conclusion: DAX lost this round against me and it is a good moment to invest. I will buy stocks in my newly started UK broker account and will now leave my German broker account to grow until there has been enough dividend payments for it to be worth making an investment.
