Dividend from ETF Russia: February 2016

HSBC, the holder of my Russian ETF

Due to an extended weekend trip I am a bit behind with the reporting on the dividend payments that took place in the end of February. Still... since the milk have not been spilled there is also no reason to cry and one should just peacefully accept that dividends dropped into the broker account.

This Russian ETF is paying out a dividend twice per year. One payment is fairly large and it arrived just now. For my 270 parts I received 67.10 USD that got converted into 60.70 € that were paid into my broker account as cash. That gives a YoC of around 3.5% which I find very impressive considering how poorly treated the Russian Ruble have been as of late AND that a large part of the ETF is in connection with oil and gas companies!

The Stock Dividends page has now been updated if you want to follow my dividend progress.

Stocks of Interest: March 2016

2016, March, stocks

There are still several nice investments but by the look of it... each passing day and those options are once again getting less and less. For me, as long as I run this contrarian investment approach, there will however always be investments to be made. Last month I pushed in 3k € into IBM, Intel and BASF. All three are solid dividend payers with a solid revenue and earnings basis.

Oh, just like the previous spring I have come to realise that the laid back schedule of one article per day just is not enough. I already have three annual reports with new yearly analysis that must be made + all the dividend payments that are now dropping in + it is soon time to analyse all the DAX companies again... so every now and then I will push out two articles per day.

Dividend from DBAG: February 2016

DBAG, a German investment company

I must say that I unfortunately only own one investment company and that is DBAG. Investment companies are excellent investment for longer holding periods. You have a couple of professionals that do their very best to improve the value of, hopefully, not only the investment company itself but also of the holdings they are involved with. A fund is often passive and investment companies are less passive concerning their holdings.

Last year DBAG made an extreme payment of 2 € per share! This year they have relaxed a little and we received 1 € per share. I currently hold 100 shares in DBAG which gave me 100 € cash into my broker account. This gave me a YoC of 5.0% which I find fully acceptable.

To find out more about DBAG please visit analysis of DBAG 2016.

Summary of February 2016

Summary, February, 2016

The share prices have started to climb up again which sadly means that we have to pay more to get what we want. There is always something cheap around. These days the mining industry is hammered, the banks in Europe are in many cases being traded far worse than back in the very low of the financial crisis oh, and we should not forget the oil industry and every company having some kind of connection to that industry. The big question marks are how long will they continue to have problems and will they need additional capital to survive?

German inside trading: February 2016

Inside trading, Germany, February, 2016

The share price movement on the stock markets are a bit like a slowfox with the basic step slow, slow, quick, quick. Every now and then there is some spinning around in the quick, quick procedure and sometimes one walk backwards and sometimes forwards.

The question is however what are the managers up to during this slowfox? Are they lurking around in the audience or are they out trying to steal the show?

For the previous report please click on German inside trading: January 2016.

It is very clear that the managers are lurking around in the background, one part due to annual reports arriving but there might also be other reasons...
