Dividends during December 2020: Shell, Intel, IBM & BP

Shell kindly paid out some dividends to me for my 190 shares in the size of €26.09 which, due to them being held in an ISA and being the UK Shell shares B, I paid no taxes on it and it arrived as cash on my broker account.

Intel also paid out dividends to me in the size of €37.06 from this was taken €5.56 in taxes and I received €31.50 as cash on my broker account.

As tradition holds for the US companies with quarterly payments I received also dividends from IBM. I received €33.56 and from this Mr. Taxman took €5.03 leaving €28.53 as cash on my account.

The final dividend payment for the year was from BP and in the size of €34.45 which was directly paid out as cash on my broker account.

Summary of November 2020

Summary of November 2020

I did not receive any dividends this month so that is a bit sad but the share price developments during this month has been extraordinary. It is fascinating how we humans are influenced by hope and seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Also this shall pass and the best approach as proven so many times in the past by so many is simply to keep investing - ideally even try to invest more. There will be new pandemics arriving in the future, there will be more crashes due to greed, fraud, fear, credit etc. All of it shall however pass.

Christmas and New Year celebration is looking poor at the moment. I do not want to risk going back to visit my parents in Sweden unless they have managed to receive the vaccine before and the chance of that is slim. So if I stay this year here in the UK then I will do my very best to try to recreate a Swedish julbord which should be feasible due to IKEA. I am sure that many Swedish people all over the world are very grateful for those blue and yellow IKEA stores. I got there every two to three months to buy some acceptable knackebrod.

Due to the new lockdown in the UK and my region coming out with Tier 3 regulations things have slowed down substantially again. We try to do as much as we can at work but my gosh are things slow!

For the previous summary please visit Summary of October 2020 and here you can see my stock portfolio as it is.

The total invested value is now up at: 173,863 €. Monthly investment was made in the Mixed ETF and in Shell shares.

The value of the portfolio is today: 227,157 € and I have 3,346 € in cash on my broker account. I have realised gains of 3,103 € and unrealised of 53,294 € (23.5%) which is not good enough but it is improving. My ETFs are now up at a value of 58% of my portfolio.

DAX is now up at 13,382 points which means that it has increased by 7.2% since the previous summary and my own portfolio has happily increased by 9.4%.

Conclusion: DAX lost this round against me again and it is now the third month in a row that my stock portfolio has done better - heavily driven by the tax favourable pension investment (Mixed ETF). The investing situation is quickly getting worse and as a proof of that my Shell shares that I bought last month is already up by 31% which always tends to put me off even though it should not.

Stock bought in October 2020: Shell

Due to the reduced oil prices, Covid-19 and US election it felt like a very good moment to start buying more oil companies.

I therefore bought 190 parts in Shell (B shares UK taxed) for a total of 2047 € including the stamp duty which gives a price of 10.77 € per share.

Summary of October 2020

Summary of October 2020

Received dividends from three companies but overall it will me a meek year. I hope that 2021 will become a much better year in terms of dividends. I've heard reported from various sources that yes, many companies were not making any sales during the lockdown but once out of lockdown the sales increased dramatically any many of them ended up with similar sales as last year for the nine months period. Many companies have however been severely hit by it and new companies have bloomed.

Cash was added to the account and a company was brought which I will report on shortly. In the end I decided to start up a broker account in the UK again due to the upcoming changes and because I found a no fee ISA stock account with additionally low commission fees when buying stocks. Here in the UK the ISA accounts are tax free and one can add in a maximum of £20k per year into them. I mainly plan to go for high dividend paying stocks.

My company had a strategy meeting with our board some weeks ago. It was very exciting and the future start to look a bit better. Sitting in these meetings I realised just how important the board is for a company I have a feeling that the board can often be overlooked and one is looking at CEO and the key players in the organisation but the network, knowledge and skills of the board members are highly crucial.

UK is once again in lockdown. It has very little impact on me and my life here and I think that Brexit will have a much bigger impact.

Oh, I was contacted by HR in the middle of October with them informing me that they had messed up and forgotten to increase my salary from summer when I stepped into my new role. I just laughed about it because I hadn't even realised their mistake.

For the previous summary please visit Summary of August 2020 and here you can see my stock portfolio as it is.

The total invested value is now up at: 169,160 €. Monthly investment was made in the Mixed ETF and only in that.

The value of the portfolio is today: 205,158 € and I have 3,233 € in cash on my broker account. I have realised gains of 3,103 € and unrealised of 35,999 € (17.6%) which is, as always, not good enough.

DAX is now down at 12,480 points which means that it has decreased by -2.2% since the previous summary and my own portfolio has happily increased by 0.7%.

Conclusion: DAX lost this round against me and it is a good moment to invest. I will buy stocks in my newly started UK broker account and will now leave my German broker account to grow until there has been enough dividend payments for it to be worth making an investment.
